Let's break down my Birthday weekend in Louisville!
Shout out to all the Pisces, by the way (March Pisces to be exact!)
Commute
Louisville, Kentucky is a city with influences from both the South and Midwest; that explains its charm and sophistication. It's also situated in the middle of the country and makes for a very easily accessible location to visit!
Don't bother with the airport. Louisville is completely road-trip worthy!
Here's a few major cities only hours' distance out by car:
1.5 hrs from Cincinnati
2.5 hrs from Nashville
3.5 hrs from St. Louis
4.5 hrs from Chicago
5.5 hrs from Memphis
6 hrs from Atlanta
Where to Stay
East Market Neighborhood, bka, Nulu District (a portmanteau for "New and "Louisville"), is an unofficial district of Louisville made up of two neighborhoods - Phoenix Hill and Butchertown. Nulu is a hip and growing community with tons of bars, restaurants, media agencies and art.
We decided to be in the middle of everything and grabbed a one bedroom condo through Airbnb on S. Clay St - right off Nulu's popular throroughfare, E. Market Street. The condo and host were amazing. The East Market/Nulu neighborhood is only minutes from downtown and the Louisville Loop, which are great areas to stay, but I highly recommend the Nulu District.
What to Do
Brough Brothers Distillery
The Brough Brothers is a black-owned distillery (Kentucky's first African American-Owned Distillery) specializing in Bourbon. 'Brough' is located in the Park Hill neighborhood of Louisville, and will be moving very soon to a larger 2nd location!!
These Brothers are the truth! They love what they do, and it comes out in their service and product. Their Bourbon is so smooth. We bought two bottles home and will make it a point to locate Brough Bros. Bourbon here at home - it's that GOOD.
Mercury Ballroom
Mercury Ballroom is the premier concert venue for all ages in Louisville. Here, we attended the 'RnB Only' event my birthday night and had a blast! Tap in to catch a show sometime.
Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory
Churchill Downs / Kentucky Derby Museum
Muhammad Ali's Home Site
3302 Grand Ave, Louisville, KY 40211
You know we had to come pay respects to the Greatest!

Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse Louisville
We rounded out my Birthday weekend at Jeff Ruby's! The food and drinks are amazing. Stunning decor inside, too. Ask for the waitress by the name of January (Yes, that's her real name lol.)
And she's a Pisces, too!

Louisville Mural Tour (Nulu District)
Now, yall know I have to put yall on for that perfect IG shot. Louisville is a historical institution, so art and culture is everywhere, literally. This particular mural 'Alice in Wonderland', was painted by local artist Alyx McClain and was added to the public art scene May 2022. 'Alice' is located on the side of the Rabbit Hole Distillery in the Nulu District (E. Jefferson Street. and S. Clay Street).
